mk3 golf how to get the carpet up

basicly im trying to put a sound system in my car and dont no how to lift the carpet and plastic side moldings up to run some wires throw. the main problem is the side moldings wich just have a small plactic sricle clip or srew on then and dont want to brake any parts please help or any other ideas for running wires throw the car cheers lewis
