Cabriolet mk4 cd changer not working

Postby petrolhead » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:35 pm

Hello
I have a 2001 Y cabriolet 2.0 and the cd changer is not working, there's no voltage getting to it.

I'm guessing that I'll need to get a tool to get the head unit out and check the connections because the cd unit is powered from the head unit.

Is this correct?

Yes it is powered from the head unit.

mmm, I've got the slot in keys coming.

Does anyone know if the cabriolet Gamma head units have the 'learn' capability? I don't have the code and I think it's all the original equipment.

No I don’t think they do have the learn facility. If you do not have the code the car will have to go to VW and they retrieve the code using their diagnostic machine and a link to Germany.

Do the code 'calculators' work?

Or just goto the dealership and pay the £30.

Also, can I unplug the cd changer supply plug without removing the supply to the head unit? Or is it one complete plug?

Code calculators? Got me there, never heard of one.

There are various plugs on the back of the Gamma, keep the power plug in, I think it is black.
